Book your tours into the future of maritime and logistics operations

Tech tour Turku

How is transport and mobility research put into practice in the Helsinki region? The site visits of the TRA2020 technical tours let you see for yourself.

Lasting approximately two hours, the tours are conducted in English and free of charge for delegates. The number of seats per tour is limited – check out the schedules, then read the registration instructions before booking your place via the conference registration system.

In this first part of the technical tour preview, we cover maritime and logistics operators. In the next newsletter, we will look at advanced ways of getting around in an urban environment. (If you can’t wait, visit the Technical tours section on the TRA2020 website.)

Transformation in shipbuilding

Curious about seafaring in arctic conditions? Want to see an ice model test laboratory? Aker Arctic specialises in ice-going vessels, icebreakers, offshore marine structures, marine transport solutions and ports. The second stop of the tour, at ABB Marine and Ports, will take in transforming maritime transportation in sustainable ways. The company believes the next generation of ships will be electric, digital and connected, as the industry moves towards new energy sources and autonomous ship operations.

Another tour begings at Meyer Turku Ltd, one of the leading European shipbuilding companies. The shipyard provides state-of-the-art technology solutions, advanced construction processes and cutting-edge innovations for cruise operators and other ship-owners. We will then proceed to The Forum Marinum Maritime Centre, a versatile centre for maritime activities, comprising a national special nautical museum and the Finnish Navy Museum.
