The Budapest Transport Privately Held Corporation (BKV) owned by the Municipality of Budapest runs most of the vehicles (bus, tram, metro and trolleybus) of the extensive network of public transportation in Budapest. Other services include the famous CogWheel Railway, the Budapest Castle Hill Funicular and public riverboat transport along the Danube. BKV transports approximately 1.4 billion passengers a year. BKV takes into account aspects of environmental protection not only during its primary task, i.e. operating public transport. Our energy efficiency measures, which have been planned for years (for example, the installation of solar bus storage in Kelenföld), are also at the service of sustainability. As a result, we win the title of Energy Conscious Company year after year.
