ETRR is a peer-reviewed open access journal publishing original high-quality scholarly research and developments in areas related to transportation science, technologies, policy and practice. Established in 2008 by the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI), the Journal provides researchers and practitioners around the world with an authoritative forum for the dissemination and critical discussion of new ideas and methodologies that originate in, or are of special interest to, the European transport research community. The journal is unique in its field, as it covers all modes of transport and addresses both the engineering and the social science perspective, offering a truly multidisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, engineers and policymaker. More publishing opportunities in the TRA2020 – Special Issue considered for Utilities Policy

TRA2020 will plan for a Special Issue of Utilities Policy provided that enough papers with good quality and suitable scope are submitted to the conference. The number of papers needed for Special Issue of will be 5-12.The foreseen Special Issue will focus on the economics and governance of networked industries, with special focus on transport. The impact factor for the journal is 2.098 and its Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Janice Beecher. The journal website can be found at: https://www.journals.elsevier.com/utilities-policy

The Special Issue provisionally titled as “The new economics and governance of transport networks and services”will be guest-edited by Dr. Pekka Leviäkangas from VTT, Professor Lauri Ojala from Turku School of Economics and Dr. Timo Välilä from the University College London. The aim of the Special Issue will be to highlight the new ideas, new approaches and new paradigms regarding the governance and economics of transport services and transport networks. All modes of transport are covered: road, rail, maritime, aviation, and non-motorised. The sector faces challenges because of climate change, sustainable finance, and societal pressures. These challenges apply to both passenger and freight transport.

According to the TRA2020 process, the manuscripts should be available by the end of 2019 in a TRA format. Changing the format to Utilities Policy requirements will take approximately 2-3 additional months, so the foreseen completion of the Special Issue is April 2020. The papers that will build the Special Issue will be those submitted for the Transport Research Arena 2020, and shall be reviewed and selected by the aforementioned editor team.
