(ACTS), a non-profit organization which represents the world’s leading automakers, established a public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to research and develop vehicle-integrated technologies to prevent drunk driving,  known as the Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety Program (DADSS): to research, develop, and test technologies that detect alcohol in a driver’s system quickly, accurately, and unobtrusively and that would be essentially invisible to drivers. U.S. legislators and safety advocates are supporting the effort, making DADSS part of a multi-faceted commitment to reduce and help eliminate drunk driving.
