In the Heart of Europe

Few places capture the spirit of Europe like Budapest — a city where history, culture, and innovation meet on the banks of the Danube. With its strategic position bridging East and West, Budapest has long been a center of commerce, science, and creativity.
Today, the Hungarian capital is emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting hubs for transport research and technological innovation. Hungary’s strong academic foundations, engineering excellence, and growing start-up ecosystem make it the perfect host for TRA 2026.

Easy to Reach

Budapest is easily accessible from nearly every European capital by direct flights and rail connections. The Liszt Ferenc International Airport connects the city to over 120 destinations worldwide, while efficient public transportation — metro, trams, and buses — ensures smooth travel within the city.
The TRA 2026 venue, Hungexpo Budapest Congress and Exhibition Centre, is just a short ride from the city center, conveniently linked by metro and shuttle services during the event.

Discover the City

Beyond the conference, Budapest offers an unforgettable experience.
Explore its UNESCO World Heritage landmarks, soak in the historic thermal baths, and enjoy a vibrant mix of classical architecture, cutting-edge design, and world-renowned gastronomy.
Stroll along the Danube Promenade, cross the iconic Chain Bridge, or discover the creative pulse of local districts filled with cafés, galleries, and cultural events.

Whether you’re networking at the conference or relaxing after a busy day, Budapest is the perfect setting to connect, explore, and be inspired.

Traveling from the airport
100E Airport Express is the fastest way to reach the city center (Deák Ferenc tér). Note that this bus requires a special Airport Shuttle bus single ticket (2500 HUFm approx. 7€). Regular passes or single tickets are not valid. You can buy this ticket via the BudapestGO app or by tapping your card on the Pay&GO devices on board. There are also official BKK ticket vending machines near the bus stops where you can easily purchase your tickets following only a few steps. Please note, that the complimentary visitor's pass will not be valid for the 100E Airport Express.

If you are using taxi services, look for the Főtaxi booth at the airport exits. They are the official partners, offering fixed regulated tariffs and accepting credit cards - https://fotaxi.hu/en/.

You can also use the Bolt (https://bolt.eu/en-hu/cities/budapest/) or the Uber application (https://www.uber.com/hu/en/r/cities/taxi/budapest-budapest-hu/) in Budapest.

Currency:
As in Hungary the official currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF), generally you will have to pay for everything in HUF, but credit cards are widely used and accepted. There are coins of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 HUF and banknotes of 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 20000 in Hungary. 1 euro equals approximately with 360 HUF – depending on the actual exchange rate.

Almost every shop, restaurant, and taxi in Budapest accepts bankcards. If you do need cash, use bank-affiliated ATMs rather than "tourist" ATMs to avoid high fees.
