Distinguished Guests! Dear Visitors!
Hungary has long served as a bridge between East and West, connecting the North Atlantic world with the Global South. Its strategic geographic location, extensive geopolitical experience, and longstanding traditions in transport make it exceptionally well-suited for this crutial role. As Hungarians, we bear a special responsibility in fostering the development of our immediate region-Central and Eastern Europe.
Today, European mobility stands at the threshold of a historic opportunity, driven not only by economic imperatives but also by the urgent global challenge of climate change. A shift toward sustainable mobility is essential. We must prioritize and actively support environmentally responsible solutions at both national and European levels. Achieving this requires significant infrastructure investments, development and the seamless integration of transport services. Collaboration -both in strategic vision and practical implementation- has never been more crucial.
It is this spirit of cooperation that makes the Transport Research Arena (TRA) and similar initiatives particularly valuable. Every two years, this conference provides a unique platform for leading experts and major international companies from across Europe and beyond to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and shape the future of transport.
We are honoured that Hungary has the privilege of hosting this prestigious conference organized by Hungarian Public Roads under the auspices of the Ministry of Construction and Transport. As minister, I personally support and I am committed to ensuring the success of this event in every possible way.
The theme of the next TRA -"Regeneration of Transport"- embodies not only continuous advancements in technology and engineering but also our firm belief in the increasingly significant contributions of the next generation of researchers.
This commitment to innovation and progress defines our goals in Hungary. It is the driving force behind our dedication to bringing this significant transport event to our capital.
I am proud to state that Hungary is ready to function as a global hub for transport innovation and economic leadership in 2026. I wish all participants a successful conference!
