Krzysztof Kuik

Director for Clean Planet, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation
European Commission

Krzysztof Kuik is Director for Clean Planet in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, where he oversees work supporting Europe’s transition to climate neutrality, including research and innovation on clean energy and industrial decarbonisation.
Before joining DG RTD, he was Head of Unit in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, responsible for State aid control in telecoms, media and internet, including the assessment of broadband rollout projects across Europe under EU State aid rules. He also led antitrust enforcement work in the areas of media and sport, overseeing several high-profile investigations.
Mr Kuik joined the European Commission in 2009. Prior to that, he worked as an attorney for an international law firm in Warsaw, Brussels and New York. He holds a law degree from the University of Warsaw and postgraduate law degrees from KU Leuven and New York University.
